Sheers and Linings
  • French batiste- Matte surface, heavier density of weave than voile.

  • Voile – a sheeny refined chiffon fabric

  • Metallic –very heavy version of iridescent organza

  • Organza –plain weave synthetic filament fibers create a glimmer appearance

  • Iridescent- comprised of two or more colors, in different angles, the color appearance of the fabric changes.

  • Muslin-loosely woven cotton fabric, mostly having and wrinkled prewashed look.Lightweight linen sheer- available in different densities, and nub pattern.

Linings
  • Regular cotton- medium weight. This lining is a step heavier feel than the Poly-cotton lining, but its ability to withstand the sun is less.

  • 100% cotton heavy weight- Available in a wide variety of colors. This lining is perfect to use when the reverse side of the curtain and drapery color is significant detail.

  • 50/50 cotton polyester- most standard lining composition. Available in mostly white and ivory. Be very aware that in using linings with white curtains and draperies, one must take into consideration how the sun’s light will affect the daylight curtain and drapery color.

  • Lining/interlining- Recommended when using lighter weight fabrics such as taffetas, silks etc. Normally applied to give the curtain drape a nice body, a more substantial overall look.

  • Thermal lining –dim-out– a heavier weight than regular lining. While reducing light and insulating, this fabric also still allows a glow of light through the fabric.

  • Blackout lining -100% opaque. No light will pass.

Calabasas Drapery Lining

Calabasas drapery lining fabric is one of the most essential ingredients when selecting the appropriate window treatment. It is important that drape and curtain fabric be versatile enough to accommodate different environmental needs in your home or business setting. Drapery lining is able to achieve a versatility when it is combined with drapery or curtain lining that bring with it the special needs of the room. One special need / benefit is when the room has a need for a high level of thermal insulation or it is necessary to block more light out of a room. The Curtain and Drapery Shop has found that drapery lining offers a versatility with drapery panels that when combined with lining fabric is able to offer an advantage over many other window treatments such as shades and fabric blinds. It is very possible to create fashionable window fashions without curtain linings, but drapery is usually improved significantly when curtain lining is used.

Calabasas drapery liners are usually sought after to block light, give a much stronger look because of their weight and the effect that the added weight has on the appearance of the finished curtain panel. Drapery liners lend a touch of elegance to window décor without them even having to be seen. We are more than happy to bring you selections of curtains with and without drapery lining to compare.
